Unsettled, Like the Weather

Hi everyone. We’ll be calling you all today to let you know what’s going on – at least as far as we know what’s going on.  We definitely can’t start pickup this week. There’s really just almost nothing edible in the garden, after the hail. The types of things that would tend to be ready for harvest right now are mostly leafy green types, like mustard and spinach, and they were decimated last week.

As we look at the upcoming weeks, it’s clear that it will be a minimum of three Thursdays before we’ll be harvesting anything edible. Beyond that, we still can’t tell.  We’re weighing our options, and waiting on the garden to start showing us how it’s going to turn out.  We feel terrible that we’re keeping everyone hanging like this,  but at this point, the only decision we could make for sure would be to cancel the season entirely, which we want to avoid.  So, we’ll keep waiting, and you all will definitely be the first to know when we figure out what’s going on. Please rest assured that you will be refunded any money for which you don’t receive produce.

In the meantime, feel free to call or email with any questions or comments you have. We’ll keep posting here, letting you know what’s going on. And as always, we encourage you to come over and see what’s going on for yourself.  Thank you all so much for your kindness and patience as we work through this unexpected calamity (a.k.a. “farming” 🙂 ).

One last reminder: we’ve got eggs! And they’re really lovely and also delicious! If you want some you should definitely give us a call, or just swing by on Thursdays (beginning this coming Thursday, June 18) between 4 and 6 PM.  $4.50/dz or $2.25/halfdz.

OH! And, it recently came to our attention that the slide shows on the blog are accompanied by music, and further, that because there are multiple slideshows, there are multiple songs playing over each other. That’s annoying; we’re sorry. We didn’t know because we never have the computer volume on. Anyway, we’ll try to turn it off ASAP. OK, that’s really it for now.
