Getting Ready for 2010!

The 2010 season is nearing and we are busy preparing for another CSA season!  We have sent out letters to last year’s members and asked you to let us know by March 1st if you would like to join us again this year.

This year will be different than last in that we are asking members to assume the risks of agricultural production with us, as in the traditional CSA model.  Last year we did suffer substantial weather-related crop loss and we refunded for the weeks that were missed, but this year we will not refund in the event of crop failure due to natural causes (i.e. weather, pests, etc.).  However, if there is a failure due to a mistake on our part we may choose to refund a portion of the subscription, or to supplement the box with produce from another local farm. This is somewhat subjective, but we promise to be upfront and transparent in our communications with our members on this issue.

The season will be of similar length, about 16 weeks from mid-June through October.  We will also be adding a week that will have winter veggies and will come a few weeks after the end of the regular season. The subscription price will be similar (within $50 of last year’s price, $320) and you will again have the option of paying in a lump sum upfront or writing several postdated checks for us to cash monthly.

Our variety will be expanded this year, and we’ll be arranging a couple of get-togethers for members, so you can all see what’s going on around here. We’ll also offer an optional weekly email reminder about pickup.

So, keep checking back here for updates, and ’09 members, let us know about this summer by March 1st!
